Overview

This 3hr online workshop explores the intricate relationship between self-criticism and self-compassion, providing individuals, teams and organisations with the tools needed to thrive in demanding environments. Developing a deeper understanding of and implementing compassionate approaches enhances emotional resilience, supports personal and professional growth, and protects and maintains emotional wellbeing.

Why a Compassionate Approach to Self Criticism Matters

We are living and working through extremely turbulent times with stretched resources. High levels of self-criticism can show up in several ways, both personally and in the workplace, often affecting both individual performance and team dynamics. Your role may routinely demand  engagement in nuanced and skilled work, where you are regulating your own feelings throughout the day to provide timely and responsive support.

This workshop explores the intricate relationship between self-criticism and self-compassion, providing individuals and teams with the tools needed to thrive in such demanding environments and transform negative self-talk into a more nurturing and supportive inner dialogue. Whether you are new to your role or have a wealth of experience, compassionate approaches are critical. But what does it look, sound and feel like?

The critical voice can result in performance issues, such as perfectionism, procrastination and impaired decision making abilities. It can make both the giving and receiving of feedback difficult, reduce confidence and increase the incidence of imposter syndrome. Together with increased stress and anxiety, the result can be burnout and increased staff attrition.

Developing a deeper understanding and implementing compassionate self-criticism supports us to build emotional resilience, paving the way for personal growth, productivity, better relationships and a more fulfilling life. In essence, this course empowers individuals, teams and supervisors to cultivate a gentler, more strengths-based relationship with themselves and others, which is a cornerstone for psychological and emotional well-being. Within your practice and your wider world this course supports compassionate workplace cultures and practices.

By equipping individuals, teams and managers with the tools to understand, recognise and manage self-criticism, it is possible to cultivate a compassionate approach to self-reflection, relationships and workplace culture.
